天安門母親錄203亡魂

【明報專訊】天安門 母親運動是前中國人民大學 哲學系副教授、「六四 事件」死難者家屬丁子霖等人發起，由一群在1989年六四事件中遇害者的母親組成，目前共有127名成員。天安門母親作為一個群體的稱謂，始於2000年初。她們要求平反六四、呼籲徹查及公布六四事件並向死傷者家屬公開道歉。
群體活動包括尋訪死難親屬和傷殘者、對死難者親屬和重殘者實施人道救助、為死者尋求正義、為生者爭取權利等，目前為止，她們記錄到的「六四」死難者共有203人。該組織及成員常受到當局阻撓，公開悼念「六四」遇害親人的活動亦遭禁止。

Mothers of those killed during pro-democracy protests in Beijing in 1989 say the authorities have for the first time raised the issue of compensation.
A group of 127, known as the Tiananmen Mothers, have signed a letter ahead of Saturday's anniversary of the massacre. They say public security officials have approached one unnamed victim's family twice since February about a possible payment.
But the letter says the officials did not speak about making the truth public, carrying out judicial investigations or providing a explanation for each case. The government has never released an official casualty count, but the Tinananmen Mothers say they have documented 203 people who were killed.
After the crackdown, the government called the student-led movement a "counter-revolutionary rebellion" but has more recently referred to it as a "political disturbance."
